Breast cancer rates in women under 40 are increasing dramatically.

Young women with breast cancer have higher mortality rates and greater risk of cancer returning (metastatic recurrence) compared to older women

Historically, there has not been an effective screening tool for women under 40 due to dense breast tissue (mammograms are unreliable with dense tissue).

Since most screening has been limited to self-examination, breast cancer in younger women tends to be more aggressive and is often diagnosed at later stages.

Black women under the age of 35 have 2x higher diagnosis rates and 3x higher death rates compared to white women of the same age.

30% or more of breast cancer in young women is diagnosed within a few years after having a baby.

Over 13,000 women under 40 will be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2024, with more than 1,000 dying from the disease annually.
